Conceived in Colorado as a multi-ethnic electro-surf-funk collective called Wanton Hair Touchers. Moved to Portland, Oregon to reconnect with their west coast roots, and engage with its vital creative community. In this environment they experienced a dissolution that led to them selling their music creating equipment to pay for rent increases and demotions, a gut-wrenching experience for individuals whose sole creative outlet had been music since childhood.

Such degradation made it hard for them to recall and act upon their majesty. It shook their sense of who they were and what they had a right to claim themselves to be.

They thus transformed into an Afro-Futurist reading group and debating society. These events ("rehearsals") as well as their precarious material circumstances split the collective into factions ("side projects") whose meetings with each other became antagonistic. The COVID pandemic forced their final disintegration.

This is the public debut of Bright Kings. Many, many more recordings to come.
